“A SHERLOCK CAROL” at Westport Country Playhouse – Review by Marlene S. Gaylinn

“A Sherlock Carol” at Westport Country Playhouse,” is a clever mixture of popular works and famous characters created by Charles Dickens and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.

Written and directed by Mark Shanahan, we meet “Sherlock Holmes,” (James Taylor Odom), “Dr. Watson” (Joe Delafield), and “Cratchit” (Dan Domingues) who take us on a hectic journey in pursuit of “Ebenezer Scrooge” (Byron St. Cyr) and his mysterious murderer.

Along the way we meet “Emma Wiggins” (Anissa Felix) and “The Countess” (Alexandra Kopko). Dressed in colorful hoop skirts, designed by Linda Cho, they entertain us with perky poetry and silly songs and play a number of other characters. In fact, with the exception of James Odom’s Sherlock Holmes, all of the actors take on multiple, opposite sex roles, and they do it so well that the changes are hard to detect.

If you a looking for something different this holiday season, this is the show for you.

Plays until December 21.
