Thomaston’s Landmark Community Youth Theatre recently made history as the youngest ensemble ever selected to perform at the AACT YouthFest.
The 19-member cast will present excerpts from “Disney’s The Little Mermaid Jr.” at the expanded 2025 festival June 22-24 at the Des Moines Playhouse in Iowa — and the group is seeking donations so all of its performers can attend.
LCT Youth was selected as one of only seven youth theater companies nationwide. The students will participate in a festival redesigned to offer enhanced performance opportunities and programming for young artists. Performances will be evaluated in an open forum, providing participants with unique learning experiences in addition to workshops for skill development.
The Jack K. Ayre and Frank Ayre Lee Theatre Foundation awarded LCT $7,865 for travel expenses. Additional funding is needed to ensure for every young actor to participate.
