The Musicals at Richter is an attractive and welcoming place for outdoor play. Just an inspiring environment easy to negotiate from parking to seating.
The audience was so motivated for the July 5th opening night of Evita; they arrived in large numbers waiting to be seated. On this beautiful evening, the theatre was fully seated. The stage was large and attractive. Apparently, it is a new stage too with easy sight lines from all the seats.
The production which tells of the ambitions of Evita, and her demise is performed with a large cast all done through singing and dancing.
The choreography was one of the best features of the musical. The costumes were also notable. The vocals, which are the main way the story is told, were easy to follow and kept the audience engaged. The voices were inconsistent. Several of the actors were more skilled, such as Thomas Koo playing Magaldi and Gabriel Montanaro as Che the narrator were among the strongest performers. Jazzy Corres, who plays Evita, has convincing stage presence as the leading lady of Argentina; she brought Evita Peron to life much to the audience’s delight.
The show is a lively story told under a moonlit sky. It’s a fun way to spend a summer evening. Evita is playing at Musicals at Richter in Danbury from July 5 to 19, 2025. www.musicalsatricther.org
