Everyone is Irish on St. Patrick’s Day and Music Theatre of CT’s (MTC) Director, Kevin Connors invites us all to celebrate this occasion at his staged Pub in Norwalk CT.
Written by the late, Frank McCourt, writer of the best seller, “Angela’s Ashes,” MTC’s lively version is composed of five, versatile, singing, and dancing musicians.
Zachary Anderson, the Musical Director, pianist, singing actor, Jeff Raab on the guitar, Hillary Ekwall on the fiddle and cello, Joseph Torello, and Erin Margaret Williams are the storytellers who lead us through Irish history and demonstrate how they survived bad times and have come to celebrate the good.
Among the numerous, popular songs are: “The Irish Washerwoman,” “Mother Machree,” and “Danny Boy” which was sensitively rendered by Anderson.
Adding to the Pub’s atmosphere are Irish stomping and lively folk dances meticulously directed by Erin Margaret Williams, authentic costumes by Diane Vanderkroef, and projections of historic photos by Peter Petrino.
Best of all, feel free in the wearin’ of your green to join in the stomping and hand-clapping.
Plays to March 22.
