After the Phoenix School of Design and Westchester Community College, Tony landed a job in the commercial art department of Avon Products in New York, and wrote for the company publication. His association with Avon lasted for ten years, including a stint in Puerto Rico where he designed and wrote marketing and sales campaigns.
While with Avon, he branched into freelance writing. His first effort was as a contributor to what became a popular Mobil Corporation project, and wrote a series of art articles for the Tuckahoe Times (NY).
After Avon, he worked in public relations for Carvel Corporation in Yonkers, New York. Writing and producing radio commercials and slide shows he worked closely with company founder, Tom Carvel.
His interest in the theater led to a long association with the Town Hall Community Theater in Eastchester and Dobbs Ferry Theater Company in New York as actor and scenic designer, among other stage crafts. He says he learned the most about the theater through his director, Mary Mendick, who was also an accomplished Broadway actor.
Tony moved to Connecticut where he became a regular contributor of movie reviews for The Closet Light, a gay and lesbian publication. This led to co-writing travel stories, theater reviews, and celebrity interviews published by Metroline News Magazine and Boston’s in newsweekly.
He and Don Church, also a CCC member, have been collaborating and filing travel stories, theater reviews, and celebrity interviews from all around the world for the past nine years.
