Bob and Karen Isaacs
Bob and Karen have been reviewing theater for longer than either wants to remember. Bob and Karen appear on WHNU, the University of New Haven radio station at 88.7 FM, or www.wnhnu.net, in "Two on the Aisle," where they discuss, agree and sometimes argue about the current theater scene. They also host and DJ the "Memory Lane" program on Mondays from 8:30 to 11 a.m. Their reviews and theater news column appear weekly in Shore Publications including The Sound and other publications covering Guilford, Madison, Old Saybrook and other communities. They are founding members of the Connecticut Critics Circle and are members of the Outer Critics Circle, an organization for those covering New York theater.
Bob Isaacs is professor emeritus of English at Housatonic Community College in Bridgeport where he also coordinated the journalism program. He began his journalism career as a teenager in New York City and later owned weekly newspapers in both Illinois and Connecticut. He earne dhis bachelor's degree in English from City College of New York, his master's in American Literature from New York University, and did doctoral work in Irish Literature at Loyola University in Chicago. He began writing theater criticism nearly 40 years ago and has written for a number of Connecticut newspapers.
Karen Isaacs remembers her first theatrical experience at age 5. She's been a theater lover since and a performer. She is semi-retired after a long career that included teaching English and journalism at various colleges including the University of New Haven. And serving as director of public relations and marketing at Housatonic Community College. She earned a bachelor's degree from George Washington University and a master's from Fairfield University, where she wrote a thesis on American musical comedy. She has been reviewing for both print and radio since the 1970s.
